Fisher’s at Orange Beach Marina is the latest popular Baldwin County restaurant to close

A popular Orange Beach restaurant has announced it will be permanently closing next week, marking the fourth Baldwin County restaurant to close since September.

The owners of Fisher’s at Orange Beach Marina announced via the restaurant’s website the final day in business will be next Tuesday.

When Fisher’s closes its doors, it will join Fresh Off the Boat, Playa and O’Charley’s as Baldwin County establishments which have recently closed, according to Gulf Shores News.

James Beard-nominated Chef Bill Briand, who has been nominated five times for Best Chef in the South, and restaurateur Johnny Fisher partnered to open Fisher’s and also opened Playa in 2018.

Both Playa and Fisher’s made Southern Living’s list of 10 Best Places to Eat in Orange Beach.

When Playa closed in early October, they announced the closure was to allow them to “focus our talent and energy on our sister restaurant Fisher’s at Orange Beach Marina.”

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce Fisher’s restaurant will be closing its doors permanently on November 7, 2023,” the Fisher’s statement announced.

Fisher’s features two restaurants in one building, with the more elegant Fisher’s Upstairs on the top floor and the more casual Fisher’s Dockside on the lower floor.

Fisher’s opened a decade ago and quickly became a favorite spot for both locals and visitors alike. In 2017, AL.com named Fisher’s the Best Restaurant in Baldwin County.

“When we opened our doors 10 years ago, we could not have imagined how blessed we feel today,” the Fisher’s statement read. “We are beyond grateful to the Orange Beach and Gulf Shores community for embracing Fisher’s and making memories with us that will last a lifetime.

“Your loyalty and support have been the cornerstone of our business and from the bottom of our hearts, we thank each and every one of you.”
